Dan Crenshaw dukes it out with Ilhan Omar over ‘unbelievable’ 9/11 remarks – Washington Examiner

Abitter Twitter war between two freshman members of Congress escalated Wednesday when Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for trivializing the deadliest terror attack in American history.

“You described an act of terrorism on American soil that killed thousands of innocent lives as “some people did something,” Crenshaw said of Omar in a tweet. “It’s still unbelievable, as is your response here.”

The response was prompted byOmar’s tweet earlier in the dayin which she accused Crenshaw of using the type of rhetoric against her that has prompted threats. Crenshaw had criticized Omar over a video showing her saying the Sept. 11 attacks were “some people who did something” while speaking at an event supporting the Council for American-Islamic Relations.

1. I never called you un-American.

2. I did not incite any violence against you.

“This is dangerous incitement, given the death threats I face,” Omar said. “ I hope leaders of both parties will join me in condemning it. My love and commitment to our country and that of my colleagues should never be in question. We are ALL Americans!”

In a speech, Omar said Muslim Americans now live with harmful stigma because of the Sept. 11 attacks.
